Youth America Cup’s Good Start

The Red Bull Youth America’s Cup with an objective to bring out the best youth teams in the nation to race in 2017 saw a great start on the first day.

The sailors aged between 18 to 24 years showed their best performance on the first day. The campaign of Red Bull Youth America’s Cup started on 12th June 2017 at Great Sound in Bermuda. On the very first day, the 6 Pool B teams kicked off their best campaigns with 3 races. Every team was making best of efforts to book their place in the finals of Red Bull Youth Americas Cup.

The Pool B teams that took part in the competition on the first day had Team BDA. They are the hometown favorites that took on the Next Generation USA, Land Rover Bar Academy, NZL Sailing Team, Candidate Sailing Team and Spanish Impulse by Iberostar. It showed an impressive beginning to the competition for none other than the Land Rover Bar Academy. This team won the opening race in good style.

Rob Bunce the skipper of the British team along with his team was leading from start till finish as they sailed clear of all their competitors. They maintained a good lead during the race to achieve an impressive victory. Another interesting race between the team behind the British was an exclusive one among local heroes team BDA, Next Generation USA and Spanish Impulse by Iberostar for 2nd and 3rd place. Well, it was the Spanish team and the Next Generation USA that achieved 2nd and 3rd position respectively. The Team BDA was in the 4th place and it was their first race. The NZL Sailing Team came in the 5th place and 6th place was won by Austria’s Candidate Sailing Team.

The final match would take place on 20th and 21st of June and will definitely be an interesting race to see.
